The requirements for industrial touches are very high. The touch input unit should be very rugged, completely sealed, reliably working and easily to integrate. It was not possible to meet all requirements in one touch technology until today. Each technology has advantages and disadvantages. You can find in the industrial touch market only three relevant touch technologies. The most common technology is the resistive touch. The resistive touch technology is cost-effective, easy to integrate and you can operate the touch with pen and gloves. Either you choose a film/glass or a glass/glass resistive touch, it is sensitive against scratches respectively pressure. Capacitive and surface acoustic touch panels have a relatively thick glass surface but you cannot operate the touch with gloves or pens. The touch panels are in comparison to resistive touch panels quite expensive and the integration is more difficult. All technologies are not working behind glass and a multi touch operation is not possible or at least limited at the moment.

The technology fits perfectly into applications where a complete seal is necessary like food industry or medical applications. If you put the touch behind the customer face-plate there are no edges. As a result no dirt or bacteria can colonize in the corners. The design options for the customer are unlimited. The touch is complete behind the face-plate and the customer can print the face-plate the way he needs it. It is also possible to use the glass surface of the touch directly as touch surface.
easyTouch design A multiply ITO-Foil (Indium-Tinoxid) is completely laminated on a 1,1mm carrier glass. This carrier glass can also be used as a touch surface . It guarantees a stable surface and covers the complete working temperature range from –20°C till +70°C. The integration of the touch is very easy for the customer. You can attach it for example with a double side adhesive tape. We can assemble the touch on the display in its cleanroom. You will get a dust-free system.
easyTouch functionalities The easyTouch is very flexible. You can define different areas on the touch: one area can be defined as keys, another area as sliders and a third area as linear functionality. These areas can be modified by software. Furthermore you can tune the sensibility of every area. The touch is able to automatically calibrate the system. You can regulate the calibration cycles via software. Therefore the touch recognizes permanent changes on the touch like water drops. The operator can use the touch without restrictions. The integration of a touch controller offers a variety of options. You can receive data from the touch via USB (HID Device) or RS232. It is also possible to integrate a chip on the customers PCB and control it via I2C.
