New in the portfolio: E-paper displays with integrated frontlight
The Japanese technology group Sharp has announced that it will cease in-house production of conventional industrial LCD displays at its Kameyama K2 plant by the end of 2026. Sharp will, however, continue to serve the industrial sector with display solutions, drawing on its established MIP technology. For manufacturers of industrial systems, this development brings an increased focus on long-term strategies to secure existing display platforms.
“Sharp has been a true pioneer in LCD technology, shaping the industry with significant innovations. Over more than three decades of close collaboration, DATA MODUL has had the privilege of realising numerous successful projects together – built on trust, technical excellence and a shared commitment to long-term product stability,” emphasises Dr. Florian Pesahl, CEO of DATA MODUL AG, reflecting on the partnership with Sharp. “While Sharp is now stepping back from parts of the industrial LCD business, its innovative strength, collaborative spirit and lasting influence will remain an integral part of our industry – and of our own company history.”
As an international supplier of display, touch and embedded solutions, DATA MODUL supports its customers in this transition with vendor-independent alternatives, engineering support and structured lifecycle strategies. The Munich-based display specialist helps Sharp customers maintain product continuity, identify appropriate replacement solutions and manage the migration of existing designs.
