DATA MODUL canceled participation at Embedded World 2022

Recent developments have prompted DATA MODUL to cancel its participation in the leading trade fair for embedded technologies. The decision was certainly not easy for the management of the Munich high-tech company, but is the result of intensive consultations and risk assessments on the occasion of the current situation.

"We have been following the current situation very closely and have been intensively considering the possibilities of participating in the Embedded World 2022 Exhibition & Conference. The dramatic development has demonstrated how sensitively we still have to deal with this subject. The health and safety of our customers, suppliers and employees is always our top priority. We therefore see it as our duty not to risk incalculable consequences and also want to contribute to a rapid containment of the global Covid 19 situation with this preventive step .Even if we have to cancel our participation at the Embedded World 2022, we are still looking forward to the year 2022 with confidence," explains Dr. Florian Pesahl, CEO of DATA MODUL AG.
Individual customer meetings are still possible, if necessary in compliance with security regulations.

Now available: 8.4" XGA-Advanced-Wide-View TFT from Kyocera

New to our portfolio is an 8.4" TFT display with XGA resolution from Kyocera. In addition to a resolution of 1024x768, the new display features a wide viewing angle of 85° (U/D/L/R) and an extended operating temperature range of -30 °C to 80 °C. Furthermore, the display has a brightness of 1000nits and 50k LED lifetime.

Equipped with modern wide-view technology and LVDS interface, the display is a good Mitsubishi alter-native. It is suitable for a wide range of applications in industry, telecommunications and automotive engineering.

For many industrial applications, high contrast and intensive colour representation play an increasingly important role. Whenever FHD displays are no longer available or large-format displays should be used, a switch to UHD is not only advantageous but often necessary. With a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels the 4K UHD technology corresponds to four times the Full HD resolution and offers a significantly better image display with high contrast values and brilliant colour representation. In addition, optional high-brightness technology ensures consistently high-performance readability even in strong ambient light. Full-HD PCAP Multi-Touch Open Frame Monitor by Avalue

New to our portfolio are the new 15.6” and 21.5” multi-touch OFM (Open Frame Monitor) series OFM 15W00 / OFM 21 W00 by Avalue. Thanks to their open frame concept, installation is relatively easy. Customers benefit from higher flexibility and more available space for potential adjustments as the monitors can be easily integrated into different housing concepts. In addition, they support a wide range of applications and are used, for example, in factory automation for human-machine interaction.

New to our portfolio: 27" UHD LCD TFT from LG

The 27" LM270WR3-SSC1 by LG is now available. With the addition of this product to our portfolio, we are closing the gap between 23.8" and 31.5" in the UHD display range. We have also developed a matching control system: our eMotion UHD-II AD board control.

Thanks to IPS technology and a viewing angle of 89° from any direction, images are shown with a particularly high contrast ratio of 1300:1. The TFT panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160, 350nit brightness and has an eDP interface. This makes it ideal for all HMI applications, digital signage, in medicine or even in the gaming sector.

The 36" Stretched TFT S360AJ1-LE1 by Innolux is now available

The 36" Stretched TFT S360AJ1-LE1 by Innolux is now available

Thanks to Super MVA technology, the tft has a particularly wide viewing angle of 89° (U/D/L/R) and shows content in a contrast ratio of 4500:1 with a resolution of 1920 x 532. The display also has an integrated LED converter and is plug-in compatible with the already available 29" stretched display series.

The new display is available in two different brightness levels, 500nits or 1000nits, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Requirements of current applications such as building automation, elevator terminals or in passenger information systems can be ideally implemented, not least due to the special 32:9 format.

Everything from a single source: wide range of manufacturing methods at DATA MODUL

As a leading partner of industrial display, touch, embedded and system technologies, we offer a wide range of in-house production and manufacturing methods. Our high vertical range of manufacture ensures that our product quality is continuously guaranteed. Especially in times of market-related material shortages, our independence from suppliers gives us operational and strategic advantages.

Already during the selection of a suitable touch panel we offer the possibility to combine different FPC tails with a SITO touch sensor (tail bonding). We can optically bond the touch sensors directly onto printed cover glasses by using various adhesive technologies. Thanks to the fully automated and camera-based pick-and-place process, bonded touch/cover glasses can be inserted into bezel with high precision. Production-related gaps can - if necessary - be filled by gap filling.

When using plastic frames, we have introduced a plasma activation process that cleans the surface to ensure better adhesion. Alternatively, frames can also be bonded by using the hot-melt process, which offers a cost advantage, especially for high-volume projects. The final assembly and testing of products manufactured by us is then carried out on our flexibly configurable production lines. All work steps are set up according to customer and product specifications, thus offering maximum control over the entire manufacturing process. From simple touch displays to complex complete systems including installation of customer-specific software - our customers receive everything from a single source.

ISO certification for DATA MODUL now also at the Lublin production site

We are pleased to announce that our production site in Lublin (Poland) has recently received ISO 9001:2015 certification. This qualification means that our products and services are regularly adapted to current market and customer requirements and continuously optimized. At the same time, it underscores the high importance of quality assurance of our services in accordance with German quality standards, also at our international production sites.

"The opening of our Polish production site in May 2019 was another important milestone in our internationalization strategy. The expansion of our production capacities not only ensures our competitiveness in the globally growing market, but also offers our customers more flexibility and risk minimization at the same time. 23.8" FHD TFT by Innolux - now in series production

Since the beginning of the year we have the G238HCJ-L02 TFT by Innolux in our portfolio, which the manufacturer has meanwhile transferred to series production. Compared to the G238HCJ-L01 version, the display has a higher brightness of 450nits instead of 350nits, a longer LED lifetime of 50,000 hours instead of 30,000 hours and a built-in LED converter. The temperature range has also been extended from 0°C to 50°C to now 0°C to 60°C. Thanks to its high brightness and a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the FHD display is suitable for all HMI applications in the industrial sector.

As LG INNOTEK (LGIT) announced earlier this year, the company is exiting the touch panel market. Since 2016 LGIT was our strategic partner for metal mesh touch products. In addition to our own PCAP products up to 32", distribution standard products with Sharp USB controller up to 55" and more were sold. With the surprising discontinuation, we were asked to quickly provide suitable replacement products.

In cooperation with our controller partner ILITEK we developed a new USB controller board (ILI2316), which was relaunched with three touch sensors in the highrunner sizes 42", 50"(49") and 55". This board is the basis for a fast, suitable alternative to LGIT products. Other niche diagonals are covered with metal mesh touch supplier MN-Tech.

Discover the advantages of tailbonding

The integration of PCAP (projected capacitive) touch sensors into an overall system can often be challenging, since the housing design and the electronics are already defined in advance and the available installation space is often limited. In particular, the integration of the FPC flex-tail of a PCAP sensor is often a limiting factor. The so-called tail bonding, which we have implemented with the introduction of the SITO Touch, can provide a remedy here. The electrical connection between FPC and sensor is now made individually. For each SITO sensor, both standard passive and active flex-tails (COF) are available in different lengths and shapes. Mechanical collisions can thus be easily avoided without having to reattach the touch sensor. With two, partly fully automated, tailbonding machines, we offer a unique vertical range of manufacture and guarantee maximum flexibility for our customers.

Integration of panel timings in the BIOS of our embedded products

The panel timings for controlling easyTOUCH displays will now be integrated in the BIOS of our own embedded products. These timings, which manufacturers provide for controlling displays, are saved in a so-called EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) file. The integration of these files and the appropriate timings in the BIOS of our easyTOUCH displays offer customers the advantage that they automatically receive the appropriate timings for their product by directly selecting the article number in the BIOS. The easyTOUCH display is not only quickly ready to use; but an incorrect reproduction of screen content, for example due to distortions, is also prevented.

5.5" PMOLED from WiseChip now with 100nits brightness

A new version of the monochrome 5.5" PMOLED from WiseChip is available. The manufacturer now uses a special organic material for production. Thanks to the use of so-called TADF emitters (thermally activated delayed fluorescence), the luminosity can be significantly increased from 60nits to 100nits. The optimised 5.5" PMOLED monochrome yellow (UG-5664ASYKF01) is the second PMOLED from WiseChip to be made out of the new material, along with a smaller version in the 2.7" size (UG-2864ASYUG14).

Due to its self-luminous features, an OLED display with a passive matrix can do without a backlight. The low installation depth makes it particularly interesting for flat product designs. Classic areas of application are, for example, card readers in industry or blood pressure monitors in medical technology. Thanks to the increased brightness values of the two WiseChip products, new application possibilities are opening up, for example in the field of VR or e-mobility

With the NUC-APL and the NUC-APL-slim we have two new fanless mini PCs in our portfolio which are based on Intel’s Next Unit of Computing (NUC) form factor. The products from the NUC-APL series are characterized by a powerful processor, fast memory and a massive storage comparable to that of a full-size desktop PC.

NUC-APL features the Intel® Celeron® Processor J3455/N3350. It offers dual HDMI, one DP, multiple USB3.0 ports, and two COM ports on the rear side for use in applications like Smart Gateways. The NUC-APL-slim appears in a compact format and is ideally suitable for use in space-limited applications.

New and only available at DATA MODUL is the 11.6" FHD High Brightness display by JDI ( wide format TX29D200VM0AAA /  rectangular formatTX29D200VM0AAB). As part of the Rugged+ series and thanks to an excellent readability even under bright sunlight, the TFT is particularly suitable for applications with demanding environmental conditions.

Thanks to the latest IPS technology and a viewing angle of up to 85° (L/R/U/D), content is re-produced with high contrast and excellent color quality. The new display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 dots and an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

DATA MODUL achieves ISO 9001 certification for production site in Shanghai

We are proud to announce that our production site in Shanghai has been awarded for its sustainable quality management and has received ISO 9001:2015 certification only a few months after its opening.

The ISO 9001:2015 is an internationally recognised standard that not only defines requirements for process-oriented quality management systems, but at the same time represents a strategic decision by our company management that is implemented and lived in the company. Our production site in Shanghai went through the comprehensive audit process and demonstrates with the successful certification that the company's internal processes meet the international standard for quality management.
