New SMARC modules with TI Jacinto™ 7 processors

We are now expanding our portfolio with the new SMARC 2.1 Computer-on-Modules from congatec, based on the Texas Instruments Jacinto™ 7 TDA4x and DRA8x processors. The industrial-grade modules impress with their combination of high AI processing performance and a particularly energy-efficient design with a power consumption of just 5 to 10 watts - compared to other modules/processors in a similar performance class (9 - 15 watts).

Thanks to dual-arm Cortex-A72 processors, powerful AI accelerators and 3D graphics, the conga-STDA4 modules are ideal for demanding AI edge applications. They are particularly suitable for use in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), industrial automation and medical technology solutions.

The modules offer versatile features such as two MIPI CSI camera inputs, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and comprehensive safety functions. The TDA4x variant is equipped with an integrated Image Signal Processor (ISP) and is therefore particularly suitable for applications with image and video processing. The DRA8x variant offers a cost-effective alternative without this image processing acceleration.

With support for Linux, QNX, RTOS and VxWorks, the modules will be available in series production from Q2 2025. Full A.0 samples are already available now. Together with the 3.5" SARC carrier board solution from congatec, they enable fast and efficient system development.

NFE report

First publication of a sustainability report

With the publication of our first sustainability report for the 2024 financial year, we are providing comprehensive insights into our sustainability activities and strategic direction. ‘In a challenging economic environment, we have made a conscious decision to anchor sustainability as an integral part of our corporate strategy - as a central building block for the future viability of DATA MODUL. Our goal is to combine economic considerations with ecological responsibility,’ emphasises Dr Florian Pesahl, CEO of DATA MODUL AG.

As part of the global transformation process, we work across departments and holistically in accordance with the three ESG dimensions - environment, social and governance. The implementation of specific measures is based on our understanding of sustainability with its three central pillars:

  • Resource and energy efficiency: We generate sustainable added value and protect our environment through innovative technologies for resource conservation and recycling. We promote product circularity with a focus on our customers’ requirements.
  • Social responsibility: Respect, appreciation and integrity are firmly anchored in our corporate culture. We stand for equal opportunities and are committed to our employees and the society.
  • Sustainable supply chain: Long-term partnerships based on trust are the foundation on which we continuously develop the supply chain together with our customers and suppliers.

E-Paper FH Heilbronn

DATA MODUL supports student project with e-paper displays

As part of the co-operative study model at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, we provided two 7.5-inch e-paper displays (12061155) for an innovative project in their innovation lab.

The aim was to develop a modern light alarm clock that combines functionality and design. The project comprises a large LED panel controlled by WLED software and an alarm clock unit with an ESP32 microcontroller that displays the time and menus on our e-paper display.

The entire system was developed independently by the students - from the electronics and software to the 3D-printed housing. With our display technology, we were able to make a small but important contribution to this successful project and at the same time show how versatile e-paper solutions can be used in smart applications.
