The demand for displays with full bonded touch/glass units (full/direct bonding) is constantly increasing. Despite many advantages, they are still used comparatively rarely in the industrial sector.
Displays bonded in a full bonding process are characterized by excellent optical performance, which is relevant for a wide range of applications in a variety of demanding areas. In addition to the classic use for industrial HMIs, full-bonded touch displays offer interference-free and low-reflection reproduction and operation, especially in outdoor areas with strong sunlight. The lifetime of the TFT can also be extended, since full-bonded units do not necessarily have to be operated with the full backlight illumination. This not only saves energy, but also extends the backlight lifetime many times over.
As one of the largest optical bonding providers in the industrial sector, we offer all bonding processes in-house. For more information about our bonding processes, please visit our page on "bonding by DATA MODUL"
In November 2020, we received the “Innovator of the Year” award for hybrid bonding in the category Optoelectronics / Display by the well-known German trade magazine Design & Elektronik. Innovative products and technologies were presented in a total of 13 different categories, from which the readership could choose their favorites.
As one of the first companies in Europe, we offer the fully automated hybrid bonding process at our production site in Weikersheim / Germany. Hybrid bonding is a further developed combination of the two classic bonding methods LOCA (liquid) and OCA (dry lamination) and represents a particularly economical method for high-volume touch projects.
Benefit from our many years of experience in the field of bonding. We have the latest OCA, LOCA, air, gel and hybrid bonding processes in-house and can therefore offer customised touch display solutions directly from a single source.
The integration of PCAP (projected capacitive) touch sensors into an overall system can often be challenging, since the housing design and the electronics are already defined in advance and the available installation space is often limited. In particular, the integration of the FPC flex-tail of a PCAP sensor is often a limiting factor. The so-called tail bonding, which we have implemented with the introduction of the SITO Touch, can provide a remedy here. The electrical connection between FPC and sensor is now made individually. For each SITO sensor, both standard passive and active flex-tails (COF) are available in different lengths and shapes. Mechanical collisions can thus be easily avoided without having to reattach the touch sensor. With two, partly fully automated, tailbonding machines, we offer a unique vertical range of manufacture and guarantee maximum flexibility for our customers.
As a leading partner of industrial display, touch, embedded and system technologies, we offer a wide range of in-house production and manufacturing methods. Our high vertical range of manufacture ensures that our product quality is continuously guaranteed. Especially in times of market-related material shortages, our independence from suppliers gives us operational and strategic advantages.
Already during the selection of a suitable touch panel we offer the possibility to combine different FPC tails with a SITO touch sensor (tail bonding). We can optically bond the touch sensors directly onto printed cover glasses by using various adhesive technologies. Thanks to the fully automated and camera-based pick-and-place process, bonded touch/cover glasses can be inserted into bezel with high precision. Production-related gaps can - if necessary - be filled by gap filling.
When using plastic frames, we have introduced a plasma activation process that cleans the surface to ensure better adhesion. Alternatively, frames can also be bonded by using the hot-melt process, which offers a cost advantage, especially for high-volume projects. The final assembly and testing of products manufactured by us is then carried out on our flexibly configurable production lines. All work steps are set up according to customer and product specifications, thus offering maximum control over the entire manufacturing process. From simple touch displays to complex complete systems including installation of customer-specific software - our customers receive everything from a single source.
In January, we extended our easyTOUCH product range by two new products: The easyTOUCH display eTD156W3202-INA-A featuring a 2mm tempered cover glass, a bonded SITO PCAP easyTOUCH and a Microchip USB controller board for easy connection to a HOST system. New is the Innolux Full-HD panel G156HCE-L01 with LVDS interface and 450nits brightness, which is airbonded to the touch component.
We also have a new product in our sensor section: In addition to the glas-based SITO sensor, we now also offer the foil sensor eTS101W1C7-S in the standard 10.1" size. The sensor is equipped with the ILI2511 and can be bonded to any custom/standard glass.
